Josh is an Australian long-course triathlete who is rapidly establishing himself on the international scene.
Having dealt with injury for the last years, everyone has always known that when Josh gets his legs under him, he will be a threat. He is now on a roll, having won in Lapu-Lapu from gun to tape and placed 2nd in the Sunshine Coast 70.3.

We caught up with Josh before his race at Ironman 70.3 Langkawi, a race known for its boiling-hot temperatures.
Q: Josh, thanks for making time for us. Are you already in Langkawi? What are your expectations for the weekend?
A: I’ve been in Lankawi since Wednesday, body is feeling good and with a hot humid race on a testing course. I feel I’ve prepared appropriately and definitely aiming to be at the pointy end of the race. I’ve got good history in the heat so just hoping to repeat some good results

Q: You're finally free from injuries (knock on wood). What issues were you dealing with before, and how did you recover? Have you made any changes that helped you get healthy?
A: have had a pretty rough run with reoccurring stress fractures and reactions 6 in total over a 3 year period. Flipped every stone twice and tested every square inch of me. With no clear answers I just hoped multiple little changes eg.) running cadence and test a new shoe brands I’ve finally felt like my body’s absorbing the load rather then fighting against it. I’m still very mindful of running with missing such a large period of time it’s a slow process but we are making progress.

Q: You recently announced a new partnership with Giant. What does it mean to you to be supported by one of the top bike brands globally?
A: Signing with giant is a dream come true. Being such an iconic brand it’s crazy to think my 8 year old self riding around on his alloy giant defy is in the position I am now makes me realise how lucky I am and to continue pushing my limits

Q: Your new Trinity is equipped with AB03s. How have these extensions worked for you? What are the main differences compared to the extensions you've used before?
A: The sync AB03 are epic! With the extra bit of contact on the forearms and the flat hand held position it really allows me to be more relax in the front end giving massive aero gains. I’ve also changed from a 20 degree angle to 25 degree with has closed the hand to forehead gap, giving more aero benefits.
Q: Is this the end of the season for you, or do you have other plans this year? If so, what are your goals for next year? Are you planning to stay domestic or pursue the Pro Series or PTO?
A: Post Langkawi I will head to Phuket in the end of November for laguna Phuket Tri to close the season out. Then to rest up and prep for an even bigger 2026. Chasing the pro series and t100 series are priorities but my main focus is the 2026 70.3 world champs which I’ve already qualified for. So the season will revolve around that event. I always want to race the best to improve my own performances and ability. I’ve got a world class team around me with world class sponsors and believe I have the ability to mix it with anyone. I’m excited for the years to come!
We'd like to thank Josh for choosing the AB03s and hope he has a great race in Malaysia!!!
